Catching Up Pt.2

In the last post, we briefly caught up on the beginnings of the year and our first event on the calendar for 2026.
But that only took us up until March! Since then we've had another two events, plus Partizan. So let's have a look at what a very busy May had in store for the community...
P' p' p' Porky Pigs!
May has always been my favourite time of year for hobbying. The days are longer, the sun is brighter, and the events are that bit jollier!
It's also always a time of growth for the Melton Community, and ofcourse is when our greatest event returns annually: Let's Hunt Some Pork!
Let's Hunt Some Pork has become one of the GBHL's most hotly anticipated events on the calendar, and for good reason (if I might say so myself!)
It's set the standard for the Melton Community events each year, levelling up each time and striving to improve quality, quantity and porkiness!
This year saw some incredible pork-themed hobbying, a bonkers side quest that saw people fighting for pigs to take home, and an unforgettable (take that as you will) outfit from Scott!
P' p' p' Partizan!
As if organising and running 'Pork on the Saturday was not enough for one weekend, Ash, Mike B, Alex, Aidan and myself also spent the Sunday spreading the hobby joy in Newark!
Partizan Wargames Show is a semi-annual wargaming convention, held at Newark Showground.
We were offered a table to showcase our Helms Deep display, run demo games and chat to the public about the game, the club and our events.
It was a fantastic opportunity to do some networking, while also being nosey and get inspired by some truly breathtaking tables from other gaming groups and clubs.
To top the day off, we also got to chat to Adam from Warlord Games, and learn about Bolt Action and Konflict 47. But I'll talk more about that later...
A League Of It's Own
With the spring events out the way, we had time to organise another slow grow league for the local community.
The Melton Slow Grow League has become an annual occurrence, drawing in new players each year while giving established members of the community an excuse to start new projects, and arrange games with people we may not yet have played. It's also a great opportunity to settle old scores and test ourselves against previous adversaries on the table!
The league is still very much underway, with round one almost complete. The league will continue through the summer, before coming to its conclusion in the second half of the year.
All Caught Up?
It is my hope that that has seen us all caught up (for now!)
Ofcourse, at the time of writing, we have only just let the dust settle on The Destruction of Fangorn!
But panic not, a more detailed write up of that will be on the way soon.
Once again, I thank you for finding this quiet corner of Middle Earth and taking some time to sit a while and read this.
