The road goes ever on and on, but where is it taking us next? Read on and you'll find out!
Seeing off 2025
2025 has been another successful year for the Melton Middle Earth Community! It's by no means been easy, but it's been a success all the same!
It has seen the continued growth of our events, and welcomed in countless new faces to the games club and community as a whole!
But, the year draws to a close now. Christmas is approaching, and with that, the time for myself and the team to take a much needed break.
Before we shut things down for winter, we have two more games club nights booked in, as well as our competitive event, He Eats It By The Block!
21st November - Games Club, Sewstern Village Hall
6th & 7th December - GBHL100 He Eats It By The Block
12th December - Games Club, Christmas Special evening, Sewstern Village Hall

The 12th of December marks the last day of the year for the Melton Community. We will continue to be active online, but will be focusing our energy on prepping for the new year. What are we prepping, I hear you ask?
2026 Calendar
As has become tradition for the community here, the new year will kick off with the Games Club Anniversary Party! (Woooo, cake, yeah!)
We are also working on a small tournament to get held at games club later in January.
Concrete details of each of these will be on the way very soon!
16th January - Games Club 2nd Anniversary Party
January, date TBC - Mini casual event at games club
We have also mapped out the rest of the years main events, our Great British Hobbit League Tournaments.

Kicking off 2026, we have a brand new casual tournament, GBHL80: Spring Fete In The Shire!
The event pack for this event has been submitted for review today, and so it should be possible for us to share complete details of this event in the next week or so.
This is designed to be a smaller scale event, with a focus on whimsy and cheer, ideal for beginners in the hobby, or folks who want a chilled and relaxed event to attend. Rumour has it, there are ducks...

Of course, it's back! Now a staple on the GBHL Calendar, our biggest and best event returns for the third year running! GBHL80: Let's Hunt Some Pork (The whole hog!) is sure to be yet another truly triumphant weekend of epic games, friends and feasting! This one's sure to sell out fast again, so keep your eyes peeled for details of this event coming up in the new year!

This year saw Scott, the newest member of our core team take the helm and run his first event during the summer, The Expansion of Fangorn.
Next year, the summer is to expect a storm of axes and flames, as GBHL80: The Destruction of Fangorn takes place in June! Another superb opportunity to tear up the battle field, in a friendly and sportsmanship focused casual event!

What's this precious?! A doubles event at last?!
Yes, we've finally made space for what so many of you have been asking for over the last two years!
DOUBLES!
Doubles events always bring their own special brand of chaos, and we can't wait to share details about our own take on what is sure to be a hilarious day of alliances and grudges formed on the table top! Be sure to get GBHL80: I Will Carry Him If I Must, into your diary if you wish to do battle with a brother in arms at your side!

Lastly, but by no means least, rounding off the year like a great wheel of cheese, GBHL:100 He Eats It By The Block is set to return again this time next year!
It's a while off yet, but our aim is for it to have grown even bigger, even sweatier and even cheesier as it matures into its third iteration in 2026!
Conclusion
As you can see, we don't intend to be idle next year! Far from it in fact. Between the above dates, we have plans to continue to strengthen bonds with other communities, improve on our delivery of events and club, and perhaps even dabble in some things out side of Middle Earth...
Curious what that might be? Watch this space...
Jack
